Known as the “Godfather” of the fish, Rich Pavel has helped lay the foundation for young shapers to realize their dreams through shaping. Rich has spent the last decades traveling the world and shaping small batches of boards for his extremely dedicated followers. There truly is a magic in his work and his expression, known only to those who enjoy the flow that his craft provide. Rich’s dedication to uplifting young shapers and his constant support of the craft is a cornerstone of Trimcraft’s mission and creation.
Gerry Lopez – Designer
The mana flows. Gerry and his accomplishments are a long story and a deep past. From Mr.Pipeline to big wave trailblazing, a rebirth by snow and a renowned yoga practitioner — for decades Gerry has shared his passion for friends and family, quietly hand shaping surfboards for top surfers the world over. Gerry’s love for sharing is priceless and proven in his non-stop hands-on approach to refining his surfboards.
Ryan Lovelace – Designer
At the junction in a young shaper’s career where machine shaping becomes the quieted-norm, Ryan has chosen the road less traveled and has opened his doors. Sharing the reality that hand shaping has brought to him with the young shapers at Trimcraft, his enthusiasm and interest in keeping hand shaping as a viable future for those who want it is the driving force of our mission. At 32 years old, Ryan is walking the road less traveled within his generation of surfboard craftsmen.
Enthusiasm abound, Alex has jumped headlong into surfboard shaping and design in the past few years. His dedicated stoke to clean lines though hand crafting surfboards is no surprise given his personal and his family’s reputation on the snow, in the water and through life — Alex brings a fresh stoke and an open heart that nobody can deny.
In an industry mired in CNC shaped surfboards, John’s brand of hand-shaped performance shortboards, Rozbern, caught our attention quickly. Based in New Jersey, John has walked the walk for the past 10+ years and built his boards start-to-finish by hand. Because he likes it that way. John’s involvement with Trimcraft adds an East Coast experience that is integral to Trimcraft’s homegrown feel and growth the world over.
Yee’s approach to board building is reflective of his natural eye for composition. Quiet on land, it is apparent to many that he does his talking both with his surfing and his planer. We’ve watched him grow up in the waters around Santa Barbara and are both excited and proud to support and grow with his approach to surfboard building.
Attention to detail is something that Michael points out in discussion and proves daily in the shaping room. Arenal represents the young professional modern shaper with his exploration of the opportunities available for the past few years — Michael sits at the exact point in the industry at which Trimcraft adds a renewed branch. We’re stoked to have him onboard, helping us understand the wants and needs of the future generations.
Growing up in Oxnard, Josiah fell in love with two things: building family and building surfboards. Working in all aspects of surfboard construction from the ground up, he has honed his skills between numerous factories including Jeff Hull Fiberglassing, Varial Surf Technology, and a three year stint shaping at Channel Islands Surfboards. He is versed in alternative surfboard construction and brings a well rounded, mature approach to his hand craft.
An original team rider and eventually senior designer and shaper at Channel Islands Surfboards, Davey is hailed as The Godfather of Aerial Surfing, is credited with developing the floater as a critical maneuver and has designed world title winning Boards for the likes of Kelly Slater, Bobby Martinez Lakey Peterson and a litany of champions. Through his passionate pursuit of the development of performance surfboard design and function, Davey has led numerous professional surfers in their pursuits and is a central figure in the Santa Barbara surf community.
Residing above the famed Queen of the coast, Jacob has honed his shaping over the past number of years in a way that reflects his open mind and heart – resulting in an array of original alternative design concepts. With years of surf exploration under his belt and an unforgettable smile in the water, Jacob and his family are living the central coast surf lifestyle to its fullest.
23 years old, born and raised outside of Virginia Beach, VA. Josh has apprenticed in Hawaii with Bushman and spent the last few years shaping full time for WRV in North Carolina. Specializing in alternative shortboards geared for good waves, Josh has recently relocated to Asbury Park NJ and is a welcome addition to the east coast Trimcraft family.
